Vanilla sponge cake recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

1 cup of granulated sugar

2. large eggs

2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

1/2 cup of milk

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 20cm (8 inch) round cake tin.

In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the liquid mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until well combined; do not overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
